Mould Details
Similar to multi-cavity moulds, fast cycling and thin wall moulds can range from single cavity right through to multi-cavity, multi-drop manifold design. 95% of fast cycling and thin wall moulds require a hot runner system so it is often better to consider the additional cost of a valve gate hot runner system to enable the cavity to be filled as quickly as possible.
As with stack moulds, the initial cost of a fast cycling mould is higher due to the complexity of the design, however, these costs are often absorbed due to the increased production of the mould. We do recommend that this design is only used in conjunction with a modern high specification moulding machine, however, we are happy to recommend the best system for the customer's product.
During the design of a fast cycling mould, close attention will be paid to the choice of steel, hot runner system, mould cooling, feed points, venting, split lines and all other technical aspects that will prolong the life of the mould and minimise downtime during maintenance whilst maximising efficiency to achieve the lowest possible cycle time.
